PUR Water Filter :: Cuno Water Filters Cuno Water Filters: A Good Buy Or One To Avoid?
Are Cuno Water Filters the best you can buy in the industry? These are certainly among the more known, but that doesn’t necessarily make them top dog. How do they rate when compared with the other companies out there? First of all, I will say that I have no affiliation with the company at all, so if you are worried about this being a biased review, dispel those fears. These filters are actually marketed by Aqua Pur, a more known brand name. The way you can buy the best filter, regardless of the company, is to first test your water supply beforehand then purchase a filter that will get rid of the problems in your water supply specifically. Don’t just buy a water filter without first determining if it will meet your needs, as everybody’s water problems are different. The contaminants in your water supply might be different than even what people experience one city over, so knowing what you have to remove will affect which you purchase. True, the Cuno water filters do a decent job of getting rid of chlorine and some of the more major chemicals, but keep in mind that there are many other filters that not only do a comparable job but for a much better price. The aqua pure system by Cuno sells for three hundred and fifty dollars, and the only major substance it doesn’t take out at least to a certain degree is MTBE. This is not supposedly a major threat to your health, but its still something that would be good to take out, of course, if at all possible. Also, no real test have been done to determine what drinking this over the long haul does to your health, so you shouldn’t just assume that since it hasn’t proven to have long term health effects that it’s okay. When you look at the more major substances it takes out, Cuno Water Filters eliminate lead by ninety five percent, chlorine by ninety seven, and the byproducts of chlorine by ninety two. Certainly, these are fine numbers, but you don’t have to pay three hundred and fifty dollars to do this. In fact, you can shell out as little as one hundred and twenty dollars to do this task. For example, some of the more major filters actually reduce chlorine by 2% more, 4% more for lead, and 7% more for THM, and for far cheaper prices. As I stated earlier, it doesn’t reduce MTBE any whatsoever, something that most major filters do. Every percentage point counts, and the less harmful substances you have in your water supply the better. In fact, of the eleventh more major tests done and categories tested, it only effectively blocked six of them, and you can get a similar filter for much cheaper when you look elsewhere. The bottom line is, Cuno Water Filters are far too expensive for the level of quality you receive.
